Slovenia 2

Sunday, 31st May.

We left our overnight camp site at Ankaran late this morning for the 11km drive to Koper, driving around in circles trying to find parking for Boris and almost giving up, when on the way out of town we spied a suitable spot and so stopped and spent a couple of hours wandering around the town.  A most enjoyable wander, through the old town with its narrow cobbled lanes, many ending in dead ends so a bit of backtracking, and the newer part of town with the lovely waterfront, gardens and cafes, one of which providing us with a light lunch before we moved on towards Piran.  Unfortunately, we weren't able to visit the town as there was a sign on the road leading in to it that banned motor homes from entering, presumably the streets were too steep and/or narrow.  Our next alternative was a camperstop at nearby Portoroz, where we camped on the waterfront next to the yacht harbour and with a million dollar view.  We all went in for a swim though didn't dally too long in the water as it was rather murky, but we were anxious to have our first dip in the Adriatic anyway.   A walk around the harbour after dinner completed what was an excellent day
