Berching to Hilpoltstein

Thursday, 30th July.
A sunny morning for the short walk into town.  First stop was at the Post Office which we discovered yesterday is open only in the mornings, for two hours.
Next stop was the information centre where we were able to do some internetting as there is a strong signal there, then a walk around the lovely town, the origins of which can be traced back to more than 1,100 years ago.  The town has a fully preserved wall of the 15th century, which rings the oldest part of the town and is partially accessible, 13 sharp fortified towers and 4 ancient gates.  On our return to Boris, we met two young Americans, one of whom was born in Adelaide, has an Australian father and had recently visited her grandparents there, and had an interesting chat with them before leaving for the short drive to Hilpoltstein, another canal town.  Here we are camped on the banks of the canal and spent a lazy, and rather cool afternoon watching barges and cruise boats cruising by.
