Forchheim to Bamberg

Sunday, 2nd August.
We left Forchheim this morning for the short drive on the autobahn to Bamberg.  Once again we are parked by the canal but as in Forchheim, there are trees and bushes blocking our view.  There is a problem with the rear wheel on my bike, it is not easy to ride at present and as it's Sunday today, there are no cycle shops open so we walked into the town.   It's not too far and we spent a few hours roaming the streets before staggering back, worn out as it is rather warm today.  (The weather can't seem to make up its mind about how it wants to be and has been very changeable in the last few days).
Bamberg is a lovely old town, quite large with two canals running through it...the Main-Donau and the smaller Ludwig-Main-Donau...several bridges, beautiful old buildings, many cafes, an area dubbed Little Venice and even a gondola!  Tomorrow we will take my bike to the cycle shop and hopefully explore some more, either while it's being fixed or when it's mended.  In the meantime, we shall sit in the shade, enjoy a cold drink or two before dinner and settling down for the night.
