WEDNESDAY, 13th SEPTEMBER : SOHREN (Hahn) to CAGLIARI ( Sardinia)

The rain had gone by the time we woke this morning and if there was thunder through the night, we didn't hear it.  After a great breakfast in the hotel,

we went for a little walk into the town for a look see.  We didn't really see much last night as we were focused on finding the Asian shop and on not getting drowned but we liked what we saw so decided to take another look,

Back at the hotel, we were soon packed

and ready to go

Our host Carlo drove us to the airport in his blue Audi, his 7 seater shuttle bus is having a clean out as he had a major mishap with a load of tortellini a few days ago, apparently making a huge mess.  We had the mandatory 2 hour wait till departure time, bought coffee and sat and waited, thankful that we'd arrived early enough to secure seats in the waiting area as there were not enough available for all passengers.  Our flight left only about 15 minutes late, was reasonably comfortable for the 2 hour flight though I wouldn't want recommend it for a long haul.

auf wiedersehen Germany

we were soon through and above the clouds

an hour later crossing the mainland coast

and we're now in Sardinia, off the plane and out through the doors, no customs, no immigration.

After a taxi ride into Cagliari, the capital city of Sardinia, we settled into our hotel

and went walkabout

in an effort to get our bearings.  It was a rather quiet time of the day with not a lot happening, it seems that the majority of cafes, shops, etc. don't open until late morning for a couple of hours, then again from 6 or 7 o'clock in the evening.  So far, we're happy to be here and look forward to the next week.
