Some observations on France from the Fossil.

There are a lot of French people here.
It is a much better country than I remember and expected.
They REALLY know how to make F.A. cream cakes and they are cheap.
Eating out is not too expensive away from the main tourist areas.
Petrol stations are closed on Sundays, so beware!
A large number of shops and tourist stuff is closed at lunchtime for a couple or three hours.
The sun doesn’t go down til late. Currently about 10pm.
There must be millions of motor homes (called “Camping-Cars”) on the move at any one time.
There are many, many free (or nearly free) stops for Camping-Cars complete with black and grey water disposal points and drinking water supplied.
Therefore Camping-Car travels are cheap and highly recommended.
Their gas bottles for motorhomes are different to those from UK so new bottle and regulator required. Also have heard they are different in Italy etc. Time will tell.
Driving on the right seems somehow right.
Drivers are very courteous (generally).
Their road signs are shit.

Strange that!! A lot of French people in France - who'd have thought?? Trust youse two to find the FA Cream Cake shops. Had loads of laughs yesterday trying to explain FA Cream Cakes to someone who was obtuse and I was trying to be ladylike (??) about it. You trying to buy 2 seats each on the plane home??

Hi Mr Fossil. Really pleased you are finding France lovely as Mike and I have always been Francophiles!! I hope you are eating all the local food and not just FA Cream Cakes, took me a while to work out what FA was but got in the end my favourite is Abricot with cream patisserie - oooh I can taste it now. Normally have one with our coffee in the morning. Great you are making good headway down the West, As for the drivers being courteous, wait till you get to Paris!!!!! All is well here apart from the Easterly wind which making us feel very chilly. Forecast good for the week-end though and Mike and I will be repairing my shed roof as the wind has taken off the covering - oh what fun we have. Sal and I are going to the Retreat for lunch as it is her birthday week-end and like you Jan we take one another out for lunch. Keep safe and hope Boris behaves himself and does not flash you anymore. Oodles of Love Mar x
