Leaving Punto Sabbioni on Friday 29th, we drove along good minor roads, through farming and vine growing country to Grado, on the western side of the Gulf of Trieste, a very pleasant, easy and enjoyable drive. We stayed overnight there, exploring the town by bike and foot and liking what we saw.
On Saturday 30th, after talking to other travelllers, we decided to buy a 'vignetta' before entering Slovenia and avoid any possible complications with travel on motorways here and after driving up from Grado, skirting Trieste and just before reaching the Italy/Slovenia border, we stopped and purchased said 'vignette' (sticker for windscreen). There is a place that sells them just 50 metres before the border.
