WESEL to REES : 31 kms

Sunday 8th July, 2018.

Even though we had to battle a strong wind at times today, we had a lovely day and thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

There was not much riding along the river as the path veered inland from time to time but it was refreshing being out in the country among the crops and livestock.

About 10kms out from Wesel we reached the river, briefly, at a ferry stop where pedestrians and cyclists were crossing in great numbers.

Being a Sunday, the public was out in force and the kiosk owner was run off his feet.  We stopped for about half an hour, bought a drink each and watched the people coming and going, then continued on, stopping again a bit later to sit on a bench overlooking a farm to eat the lunch we'd brought with us from the hotel.

We arrived in the rather lovely town of Rees on the Rhine at about 2.30pm and after checking in and having a nana nap, we went for a wander around the town,

had a meal and a beer, watched several barges and one cruise boat go by, up the river and down the river, and after a very satisfying day, it is now bedtime.
