REDON

FRIDAY, 31st MAY, 2019

We made a mistake when we booked last night's accommodation as we booked for only one night,
later deciding that we'd like to stay for two but were too late, they were already fully booked for tonight.  Fortunately, we were able to secure a hotel room elsewhere in town though we'd have much rather stayed where we were in the 'Yellow House', a big old house currently undergoing renovations and full of character and bonhomie and with wonderful hosts.

As yesterday was a public holiday and many people have taken today off in order to have a long weekend and accommodation is at a premium,  everyone Mike contacted yesterday and this morning was fully booked for Saturday night, except for one which only had a phone contact so, because of the language problem, he asked Michele to ring the number for him.  She did this willingly and when there was no answer, she tried again and also tried others for us, which we greatly appreciated.  Frederic also pitched in in the effort to secure accommodation and eventually Michele succeeded in securing a room for us in St Martin.

As we weren't able to book into our second hotel until late this afternoon, we left our bags with Michele and Frederic and wandered into the town to become tourists.

After coffee and f.a.cream cakes, we returned to the Yellow House to retrieve our bags and say our 'au revoirs' to Michele and Frederic

then rode to the hotel and checked in.

In the evening, we strolled around the corner from our hotel to the 'Cosy Bar' where we sat on the rear terrace and shared an interesting and pleasant conversation with Margot, who had spent 6 months working in Australia 11 years ago, her husband and their small son Elio.  A lovely young family though Elio was too young understand why we were speaking in such a strange way.
