 ORROROO : Saturday, 29th May.

This morning was cool but sunny so before we left Morgan we went walking along the riverfront.

It's a pretty town, a pleasant place to stay for a relaxing holiday.

Our first stop after leaving Morgan was in Burra

Kingston Bridge built in 1878

another lovely town, one we've visited a few times now though we skipped the bakery on this occasion as it was absolutely chokkers (no social distancing there) instead having coffee in a lovely cafe across the road and were very proud of ourselves for resisting the fabulous array of f.a.cakes on display!

Scenes from the car on the way

On to Jamestown,

where we parked in the main street and made lunch.  There wasn't much happening in the town but we suspect it may have had something to do with the huge sporting event we passed on the way in.

The rest of today's journey was uneventful and we arrived in Orroroo

in the afternoon, checked into the caravan park, showered and strolled to the pub where we had drinks and dinner.  It was quiet when we arrived with just a couple of people at the bar, but it soon filled with mostly locals, reminding us of English country pubs which are more than just drinking holes but are places where communities meet and socialise.

RAWNSLEY PARK, Flinders Ranges : Sunday, 30th May.

We did a load of washing before we left Orroroo, took it with us to hang out at our destination, shopped for a few groceries at the IGA, filled up with fuel and departed, passing several beautiful old stone houses.

We stopped at Carrieton

where we bought very ordinary coffee from a friendly, cheerful lady,

passed our 'new' holiday home

on the way to Hawker

where we did a town stroll to stretch the old legs and then continued on to Rawnsley Park Station.

and checked into the caravan park for 3 nights.  There was enough space on the crowded clothes line for our washing so the first thing I did was hang it all out, as you do.  This is a very large caravan park which seems to be just about full but it's surprisingly quiet which bodes well for a good night's sleep.

RAWNSLEY PARK STATION: Monday, 31st May.

Fire in the Sky this morning!

There are several walk tracks from the caravan park, knowing our limitations we followed the shortest one.

Until this morning we'd not been able to access the G2G pass website but finally had success so we now have our new passes to enter WA on the 10th June, which means we will be in SA until then and when we leave the Flinders Ranges on Wednesday, we plan to spend time in the Eyre Peninsula to explore, holiday and fill in the time until we can head for the border and home.

In the meantime, this afternoon we drove to lookouts and to Wilpena Pound with the following results.

RAWNSLEY PARK STATION : Tuesday, 1st June.

This morning we drove to Blinman, approximately 80 kms north from here along the Flinders Ranges Way, otherwise known as Explorers' Way and on the way marvelled at the spectacular views from a couple of lookouts,

enjoyed driving on the sometimes roller coaster road, the scenery we passed

and the pies we bought from The Miners Crib Bakery & Cafe.

There is not a lot of Blinman to see but the drive there and back was unexpected, with the colours of the outback displayed in all their splendour.  A flat, boring drive was what we anticipated so were most pleasantly surprised.
