FRIDAY, 8th SEPTEMBER : BAD URACH to BRUCHSAL
We left Bad Urach at 9.15 this morning after a brief walkabout in the old town. We had intended to go in yesterday afternoon for a look-see but after all the driving, the visit to Schloss Lichtenstein and the Sommelbahn, we decided to leave it until this morning. It was a good time to visit as the town hadn't completely woken up yet and there were few people about, making it easier for us to move around and take the obligatory photos.
It's a lovely old town, we were sorry we couldn't stay longer.
We took mostly back roads to Bruchsal in an effort to avoid the major roadworks we encountered on Wednesday, it worked though it seems that roadworks are inevitable in Germany and we did have a stoppage of a couple of minutes.
We stopped near Enzweihingen (love that name) for about half an hour, bought coffee from nearby ReWe and made a sandwich, the journey was uneventful, the scenery extremely pleasing
and we arrived in Bruchsal at noon.
Our first priority was to load up the washing machine, and the rest of the afternoon was spent sitting in the shade, relaxing. At least that was the plan. The entry system to the stellplatz is rather complicated and Mike spent a frustrating couple of hours trying to sort it all out, which he eventually did as did a few others who had the same problem. It's a terrific stellplatz, the showers are huge with plenty of hot water, use of the washer & dryer is free (or rather, included in the overnight fee), there are grassed areas and some gravel and it's within walking distance of the town. We stayed here last week and as we are now heading north on our way back to Frankfurt and Bruchsal is on the way, we decided a return stopover would suit very well. There were just a few motorhomes here at midday but there's no more room now.
The swimming pool and water slide next door have been extremely busy all day.
We didn't feel like cooking tonight so walked the couple of hundred metres to the tennis club, which has a restaurant which serves mainly pizzas and pasta, shared a very good pizza accompanied by very good beer.
All's well that ends well!
