FRIDAY, 8th NOVEMBER.
After a peaceful, comfortable night in our little cabin, we left at 10.00a.m. in steady drizzle, and 14 degrees.
First stop was at Florence Hill Lookout
Second stop was brief, waiting for the cattle to go by
and the third was at Waikawa Museum, although we didn't go inside as there seemed to be a function occurring, so just had a quick look outside in the rain which had become a bit serious.
On the way to Curio Bay, where we stopped for coffee and cake
more cattle being round up
and 10 minutes later, Slope Point, the southernmost point of the South Island
which was reached by walking through a muddy field, getting shoes, socks and feet wet
We had an interesting conversation with the Finnish lady who took our photo, Mike did the same for her and her husband
and we all trudged back to the car park, avoiding as many mud holes as we could.
Next on the agenda was the Waipapa Point Lighthouse
A stop at the Fortrose Cafe for coffee & cake, our second for the day (how decadent!), was our last stop before reaching Invercargill and our motel for the night. A tiring day, especially for Mike the driver, negotiating all the twists & turns of the roads in the rain, neverthless, an enjoyable day.

Great to see all the beautiful places you have visited although you have had varied weather. Keep enjoying the f.a cakes. Safe travels
