Ebensee Feuerkogel

Thursday, 9th July.
It's been a fabulous day today.  There has been a welcome change in the weather, a little overcast this morning but no rain, cool and we wore jeans and jumpers for our ride in the cable car 1544 metres up Feuerkogel,  2km from from Ebensee.

It was chilly up on the mountain, the views were stunning and we were lured into Berggasthof Edelweiss by the delicious aromas emanating from that establishment.  Even though we've eaten out a couple of times lately, we decided to treat ourselves again and ordered meat dumplings with sauerkraut and gravy (Mike) and lentil stew with vegetables and bread dumpling (me), both tasty though a little salty and decided to try the dessert recommended by the waitress.  It was similar to a thick pancake, cut in small pieces, covered in a blackberry sauce and served with a yoghurt icecream (yum!)   We opted to share one as the meals were filling, the waitress said it was too big for one person anyway but it would have been enough for three, we couldn't finish it!   The service was a little slow but there was a large group of wheelchair people and their helpers dining there so they were quite busy and we had wonderful views to gaze at while we were waiting.  So it's back to bread and water again for a few days!
