Heidenheim

Saturday, 18th July.
We drove from Mossingen to Heidenheim north of Ulm today, a lovely drive through forest and farming country with fields of corn and almost ready to harvest wheat as far as the eye could see, through small villages and towns where most houses already have their winter firewood stacked and where there are boxes, barrels and pots of brightly coloured flowers everywhere.  There was only one detour today...there was a deviation when going through the small town of Wiesensteig, some roads were closed in readiness for an event this weekend, we turned left when we should have turned right and a u-turn wasn't possible, consequently we went the long way round but it was a pretty drive and we weren't in any hurry.

The camperstop here in Heidenheim is about 3kms from the centre of town, an easy bike ride.  We spent a couple of hours there, roaming around admiring some of the lovely old buildings, taking refuge in a cafe/bar when the rain came and relaxing in the shade on our return.
