Friday, 17th July.
There was live music in the square when we visited the town yesterday evening but unfortunately, not the excellent brass band music we'd enjoyed in Bad Waldsee the night before...we didn't stay to listen but found a quieter part of town where we enjoyed a drink and a light meal. (The fridge is struggling to keep things cool in the hot weather we've been having so our supplies are necessarily low, too hot to cook indoors anyway). Wifi is free in certain areas of the town so we were able to publish the last four days' blogs. We rode in again this morning for coffee and to use the internet again.
The rest of the day didn't go exactly according to plan although we finished up not too far away from our intended destination. We had a couple of camperstops marked as possibles...the first was okay but as it was early afternoon when we arrived and there was no shade, we deemed it too hot to stay so went on to the next stop which was through the Upper Danube Valley and a very scenic drive though not on the original plan. The heavens opened up just as we pulled in, the stop was not quite as listed in the guide book but we stayed a while, had some lunch, the temperature dropped about 10 degrees and when the rain stopped we could open windows and hatches to let the cool air in, the sun came out again, steam came off the wet road and we continued on. We had no luck with the next couple of stops as their towns were staging festivals over the weekend and were packed out but we eventually found a home for the night in Mossingen, about 55kms south of Stuttgart. It's next door to an aquatic centre, the car parks were full when we arrived but have emptied out quickly so it is quiet here now and we managed to walk to the nearby Netto supermarket and back before some heavy rain fell. Mike won tonight's Uno challenge 3 games to 2!
