Today was a bike free day except for a short ride to the supermarket.
Before strolling the 150 metres to the bakery for breakfast, we asked Christian if it was possible to stay tonight....he was unsure as he wouldn't be in the house but would give it some thought while we were out. Thankfully, by the time we'd eaten and returned to the shop, he'd decided that we were trustworthy, gave instructions as to how to lock up when we leave and where to leave the keys, very happy news for us.
I'd done a little bit of washing, by hand, when Christian came knocking at the door to ask if we wanted to use the washing machine which we hadn't realised was available. I of course said yes please and threw everything I could into the machine. The dryer was also offered but I preferred the clothes rack which was also offered.
That done, we had a quiet couple of hours relaxation time and late in the afternoon, walked up to the castle remains,
returning to find on our doorstep a plate of four little cakes, a bottle of local beer and a note wishing me a Happy Birthday for tomorrow.
He and Josef left soon after, both going to visit their respective mothers for Mothers' Day tomorrow, as it is at home....such friendly, welcoming, helpful gentlemen and we were sorry to see them leave.
There was a wedding party going on at the hotel a few doors up and when all the guests spilled out on to the street with balloons, messages attached, we had to be sticky beaks and watch the fun and take photos.
It was a lovely day, a day off and one which we enjoyed.
