BRATISLAVA, Slovakia: 0 kms

Saturday, 28th April, 2018,

Today was a cycle free day, we felt we'd earned it after Thursday's marathon ride so gave ourselves a day off and took a bus ride into the city.

Before we did anything else, we found a cafe where we had our morning coffee and shared a filled roll,

then spent a couple of hours strolling through the lovely old town, admiring the beautiful old  buildings, enjoying the ambience of the city with its many cafes, bars and restaurants

and a one man band

Mike found a friend,

then, for 10 Euros each, we went on a 60 minute castle bus tour

which took us through parts of the city we hadn't walked through and...to the castle overlooking the city and the Danube.

During the tour, we'd noticed a market hall so, once back in the centre of the city, we checked it out, tasted some of the excellent wine on offer for 1 Euro a glass and learned that the market is open only on Saturdays and proceeds aid the homeless.

There were many interesting food items for sale and we were sorely tempted but we are restricted in the amount we can carry and so had to resist the temptation.

We took our time strolling back to the bus stop, there's a lot to see, several "stag" parties were in progress at various bars around the city, people everywhere but not too crowded and although as has been previously mentioned, we are not big city people, we both thoroughly enjoyed our day in Bratislava and could quite happily spend more time there.

Back in Devin we had a light evening meal as we'd been 'grazing' all day, and are off to bed as we have an early morning get up tomorrow.
