We were accompanied by a light drizzle when we left Dusseldorf this morning
and to be on the safe side, we donned our rain coats. It worked....the drizzle soon stopped though the sky remained overcast for a couple of couple of cool and pleasant hours.
Once we'd left the traffic and noise of Dusseldorf behind for the quiet of the countryside we looked forward to a pleasant day's ride.
and were delighted when we came across a lovely brewery/cafe/beer garden, stopping there for a morning coffee.
Our next stop was to lend a fellow cyclist a tyre lever, he didn't have one and needed to mend a puncture.
A few hundred metres along the path we noticed castle remains and stopped to investigate.
We also noticed the scantily clad 'nymph' who was being photographed in a corner of the ruins,
which were situated by the pretty town of Kaiserswerth.
Before long the path veered right away from the river and through suburbia, with signs at times nowhere to be seen, requiring some guess work but we eventually found our way to Duisburg, where we visited the Tourist office for help in finding accommodation.
Once settled in to our home for tonight and after resting for a while, we strolled up the road to a beer garden for an evening meal, followed by a short walk to look at the nearby canal. It's a lovely cool evening which should be conducive to a good night's sleep.
