MALESTROIT to JOSSELIN

MONDAY, 3rd JUNE, 2019

At breakfast this morning we sat with a widowed lady who lives near Cambridge.  She is cycling along the canal in the opposite direction to us, has a house on the Loire which she and her family use quite often and one of her sons is currently cycling from Phoenix to Calgary.  We exchanged tips and travel stories with her before parting to go our separate ways.

It was sunny though cool this morning, an easy ride on an excellent path,

no boat activity at all today and at Montertelot,

we stopped at a cafe for a hot lunch, to compensate a little for the very average breakfast provided at the 'palace'.....we expected so much more!

We didn't ride very far at all today and even with all our stops, sometimes just to sit, admire the view and 'feel the serenity', we arrived in Josselin in the early afternoon.  While in a bar enjoying refreshments, we spoke to an Englishman who now lives here, he seemed pleased to have someone to speak to in his own language.

Once we'd checked in and left our bags, we hopped back on the bikes to ride to the supermarket for a few supplies, then rode into and around the old town which boasts many half timbered houses and a chateau.

It's very hilly but it is so much easier to pedal the bikes without the bags on board.

We took our cheese and biscuits to eat down by the canal in the evening,

followed by drinks at one of the few bars which was open, then back to the b&b and bed.
