ST MARTIN to MALESTROIT

SUNDAY, 2nd JUNE, 2019

The sun shone brightly this morning but there weren't many of us about early on.  Patrice was up and had prepared breakfast, Pascal was up and going for a run along the canal so there were just us two at the table.  A couple of sleepyheads joined us before we'd finished but no sign of anyone else for quite some time.

We were in no hurry to leave as we didn't have far to go today.  Mike and Patrice had a great time watching the French version of Top Gear on TV and sharing the expertise on European cars.

Malestroit is only about 20 kms from St Martin by canal, so when we did eventually get under way, it was a slow ride and an extremely pretty one with lots of stops to admire and photograph the scenery.

On our arrival in Malestroit, we were able to check in and leave our bags in our room and so rode up more hills (though without the bags on board it wasn't so difficult) to nearby St Marcel to visit the Museum of the Resistance Brittany, spending an hour or so wandering through history.

Just one small incline to leave pretty St Marcel, then downhill all the way to Malestroit where we parked the bikes and went for a walk around the town.  Another lovely town, I think France is full of them!  A couple of beers and a snack meal at a bar in the square, then back on the bikes in the light rain for the short ride 'home', which is tonight in a beautiful large home which is a little like a small palace!

I think we'll be comfortable.
