ROHAN to PONTIVY

WEDNESDAY, 5th JUNE, 2019

Our accommodation at Rohan.

The resident peacock at Rohan lodgings : A beautiful bird, dreadful noise!

Our fellow guests at our lodgings in Rohan were a German couple from Essen, who had lived in London for 3 years and were on a car/bike tour of part of the canal and a family from India who were on their way home from the U.S. where their son had just graduated in aeronautical engineering at Cornell University, so conversation at breakfast was very interesting.

The ride to Rohan was another easy and very pretty one, passing many locks including 17 going up and 18 going down where the river Oust joins the river Blavet.

Although Mike's ankle was marginally better when we left Rohan this morning, by the time we arrived in Pontivy it was very swollen and painful.  We arrived before check in time at our hotel so took refuge in the bar where we sat and drank coffee while our room was being made ready.  Mike rested his ankle for a couple of hours, I walked to a nearby supermarket for food supplies and later we revisited the bar for after dinner refreshments.  Mike purchased a scratchy ticket and lo and behold he won 20 euros much to the chagrin of the bar flies who won nothing!
