CARNARVON

CARNARVON
Monday, 29th June and Tuesday, 30th June
For the two days spent in Carnarvon we did little other than play tourists, visiting the town, buying coffee and f.a. cakes,

visiting memorials to the crews of HMAS Sydney II

and the German auxiliary cruiser HSK Kormoran

which sank her, the HMAS Sydney Walk Trail,

the One Mile Jetty which was once a lifeline for the area as roads were so bad but now closed and in disrepair,

historic relics, Gascoyne River and the Carnarvon Space & Technology Museum, which celebrates the little known history of the role Carnarvon played in the manned space program and in the Australian communications industry and was a real highlight.

After breakfast this morning (Wednesday 1st July) we will collect the caravan tyre which has been fixed and head to Point Quobba where we will stay for a night or two.
