TUNCURRY, Tuesday, 11th May. (Day 1)

It was drizzling when we left North Haven this morning though once we reached the M1, the rain stopped - until we drove into Tuncurry late this morning.  It didn't amount to much and had stopped by the time we checked into the Sporties Club

for 2 nights.  The club is an excellent one, with tennis courts, bowling greens, a rugby field, sporting fields, a gym and when we partook of refreshments in the bar, there was a group of 6 people playing bridge, so facilities for all.

After lunch we drove across the bridge to Forster

Tuncurry's twin city, had coffee overlooking the beach

what to do with your old thongs!

strolled around the town

and once back at the caravan, walked across the field to the beach

for those who want to lounge around

on Nine Mile Beach.

TUNCURRY.  Wednesday, 12th May.  (Day 2)

After a slow morning, we headed to Nabiac, about 30kms from Tuncurry to visit the National Motorcycle Museum

which houses over a thousand motor cycles as well as numerous vintage cars and toys.  An interesting museum, even for those of us who are not motor cycle enthusiasts and after an hour or so the hunger pangs set in and we retreated to the local hotel for a very good $9.90 curry lunch each.

Then we hit the beaches, first was Diamond Beach

where we fell into conversation with a very interesting local who had lived in the area for 21 years and in his working life had lived in Safety Bay and worked in the Kwinana Power Station.

Next was Red Head which we approached through a tangled mess of rainforest

for a glimpse of the beach below.

Then we went to Black Head

the Beach

the Rock Pool

As we were eating dinner tonight, the thunder started followed by rain, though not heavy.
