 BULADELAH : (1)  Thursday, 13th May.

After last night's rain, we were pleased to see the sun shining brightly when we woke this morning.  We weren't in a hurry to leave Tuncurry and started the day with breakfast

(Buttermilk pancakes with sliced peaches, peach compote topped with crushed pistacchios and served with cream - yum!  Mike had Spanish Eggs, too spicy for me but he enjoyed them)

at the Deck Cafe on the waterfront

followed by a leisurely stroll along the waterfront

We've stayed in Forster on a couple of occasions and driven through Tuncurry but hadn't stopped there before so were pleasantly surprised by the beaches, the parks and the walking/cycling paths - a very nice place to visit!

We left Tuncurry just after 11.00am for the drive to Buladelah, stopping at Bungwahl to buy ice creams and arrived in Buladelah at about 1p.m., immediately checking in to the Bowling Club which provides powered and unpowered sites, showers and toilets for $5 per person per night plus $5 for power.  Unfortunately, we are only able to secure a powered site for one night as all 8 sites are booked for the weekend.   There is an event scheduled for Saturday night, so we will need to move in the morning to an unpowered site - not a problem.  After a relaxing afternoon reading in the sunshine, we had dinner in the club restaurant.  Eating out twice in one day is an extravagance I know, but it only happens once a year and it was most enjoyable.

BULADELAH :  (2) Friday, 14th May.

After the 'big' move this morning to an unpowered site, we drove 42kms to Hawks Nest via Tea Gardens.  We stopped at the beach

thinking we might eat our picnic lunch there but although the sun was shining, the wind was bitterly cold so we drove around trying to find a sheltered picnic spot but didn't, so ate our sandwiches in the car while enjoying the view in the warmth

On the way back to Buladelah, we stopped at 'Our Girls Memorial", erected in remembrance of a grandmother and her two young granddaughters who tragically died in an horrific traffic accident in 2004
