WEDNESDAY, 23rd AUGUST ; KARLSTADT to RANDERSACKER
Karlstadt had not woken up this morning when we strolled to the bakery/cafe for breakfast, ideal for photo taking as there were few people about.
The bar across the street from our hotel, very popular last night!
Our hotel with a man at the window
A lovely town, by the time we'd finished breakfast and strolled back to the hotel to pack up, it had woken up.
We stopped on the bridge
to look back at Karlstadt
and ahead to Muhlbach on the other side of the river
before heading off to Wurzburg (again) 28kms away. On our first rest stop
Mike received a video phone call from a friend
and after a lenghty chat, we pedalled on
admiring the scenery along the way
and arrived in Wurzburg at about 11a.m.
Mike's moustache has gone dark!!
While in Lohr a couple of days ago, Mike took a load of washing to a nearby laundry, only to find it closed until the end of the month and being the only one in town, according to the hotel receptionist, we decided we could last another couple of days till we reached Wurzburg, and so, while the laundry was being washed in the 'waschsalon', we had coffee and a delicious home made tutti frutti cake in a vegan cafe across the road, and an entertaining conversation with the heavily tattooed lady owner.
Washing done, folded and packed away, we departed Wurzburg taking a few photos on the way
We soon left the city behind, riding through shaded avenues and parks, where many young things were sunbathing....I hope they were wearing lots of suncream as they had very little else on!
It was a 7km ride to Randersacker where we checked into our hotel
The view from our room
This way!
We strolled down to the beach, 200 metres away....spot the Australian!
Watched the Viking Idi glide by (we'd last seen it moored in Wertheim a few days ago) closely followed by another very long cruise boat we'd also seen before. After a meal and beer in a Greek family run beer garden near out hotel, we did the tourist thing and had a look around town, taking photos as you do, another lovely town.
