Jilah Rockhole to Penong, S.A. : 496km

Tuesday, 13th June.

I don't know what last night's temperature was but it was cold enough to warrant an extra blanket and until the moon appeared late in the night, it was pitch black outside.  There was a stunning sunrise this morning but hard to photograph as we were in the middle of the bush and unable to get a clear view.

We left at 8.15a.m. for the hour long drive to Eucla (13 degrees) for yet another fuel top up and 13kms later left Western Australia and crossed the border into South Australia, once again advancing timepieces 3/4 hour so we are now on S.A. time.  We stopped at the first scenic lookout to view the cliffs, fabulous views but the wind was bitterly cold....there are other viewpoints along the way and we plan to stop at them, as well as a couple of other interesting side trips, on our return journey.

Shortly after leaving the Nullarbor Roadhouse where we stopped for more fuel, we passed another cyclist and then a walker carrying an Italian flag.....it's a long, long road to anywhere and I think we'll stick to driving.

We are now in Penong, S.A., the first town after the border and are staying in the caravan park overnight..
