Pula

Monday, 8th June.

We left Banjole this morning to visit nearby Pula and on Kristian's advice, parked near the stadium to walk the short distance into the old town.  Unfortunately, we had only two hours there as the parking meter didn't accept paper money and we didn't have enough coins  to enable us to stay any longer, so our visit was a bit rushed.  At the time of Austro-Hungarian rule, Pula was an important military port due to its strategic location and having conserved most of its many Roman remains intact,  is a very interesting town.  We'd have liked to spend much longer there and though we enjoyed our quick walk through, would have preferred our usual 'seniors' stroll.
After stopping in a shady park for a sandwich lunch, we headed north-east on the inland road to Labin and Mini kamp "Romantik", run by Flavijana and Mario, a friendly couple who have six camp sites, two mobil homes and an apartment on their property, as well as a small pool which is a very welcome attraction as the weather is quite hot.  We've booked in for two nights and our current neighbours are one Dutch couple with a car and small caravan, and a second Dutch couple, of our vintage, who have ridden bicycles here from Salzburg and who have a tent...rather them than us!
