Another easy day of riding, blue sky and sunshine.
The first time we stopped at a viewing spot to take photos,
an elderly lady using a walker and accompanied by her dog, joined us and we had an interesting conversation with her, using a combination of German, English and sign language.
There were no houses close by so she must have walked quite a long way!
Further along the river, we stopped again to watch the car ferry cross to Obernzell
and while there, a motorcyclist arrived and Mike fell in love....not with the motorcyclist but with his 2002 model 1150cc BMW motorbike. We chatted with him for ten minutes while he waited for the ferry and then continued on,
crossing into Germany very briefly,
and stopping at an imbiss for a cold drink and talking to another motorcyclist who was eating his lunch there, getting lost trying to find the path along the Inn River, finding it and following it for 7kms, some of which was gravel, to Wernstein am Inn, back in Austria.
We have a lovely view from our balcony, across the beer garden to the river
so sat admiring that for a while before strolling to the railway station for a 3 minute train ride to Schrading, recommended to us by the Austrian couple we met last week.
A lovely town which, to us, looks a little Dutch.
My knight in shining armour!
Our plan to travel by train to Passau tomorrow was quickly dropped when we noticed that the low station platform does not line up with the train doors, making it extremely difficult to lift our heavy bikes up on board
so we will ride, but on the German side of the river.
