The sun was shining brightly as we left the lock keeper's cottage, though the air was chilly.
We backtracked about three kms along the canal to join the Green Way V7 path, leaving the canal behind and were soon joined on the path by three Frenchmen who rode alongside us for a time, chatting away, asking questions about the bikes, where we'd been, where we were going etc. etc.
There was one very steep hill, requiring a dismount and a push, in stages, after which the path was relatively flat, having once been the site of a railway line. It was a very pretty ride with muddy patches here and there due to the recent rain and we reached our destination, Gourin, around midday.
Because checking in time wasn't till a bit later, we stopped in the town for coffee and then the black cloud rolled in and the rain came, with a vengeance. We waited for a while, the rain eased a little so we decided to make a run for it, 3.5kms up and down hills through the rain, arriving to a warm welcome from our hosts Sharyn & Michael, from South Africa and Ireland respectively via many other places.
Hot coffee, hot showers, a lovely evening meal cooked by Sharyn accompanied by good conservation, and it was time for bed.
