ROSPORDEN to CONCARNEAU
SATURDAY, 15th JUNE, 2019
It's not far from Rosporden to Concarneau but it was a rainy start. We waited around until 10 am, hoping the rain would ease then decided to risk it and set off up the hill, out of town and on to the cycle path. The path was muddy in sections, due to all the recent rains and at one stage we were confronted by a very large, ferocious black dog with a very small man on the end of a lead, the very small man was very nearly pulled off his feet by the very large dog but luckily, we managed to escape unscathed.
The rain did ease a little and we began to enjoy the ride through lovely countryside,
crossing from Morbihan Department into Finistere Department
arriving in Concarneau a little after 11 am, by which time it was raining heavily again. We weren't able to book into our house until 2 pm so took refuge first in a bar/tabac where we had coffee, then in a cafe, sharing a sandwich and a bowl of chips and when the rain stopped, we went walkabout.
Concarneau is a busy fishing port, we've not been here before and from what we saw on our walk, we're going to enjoy being here for the next week.
At the appointed time, we rode to our rented house, arriving at the same time as our good friends Marion & Mike, who had ferried across from Plymouth last night and had driven from Roscoff to join us for the week.
We all quickly settled in, drank coffee, talked a lot, drank something a little stronger, talked some more, ate the delicious Moroccan Chicken dish Marion had cooked and brought with her, and all being worn out, retired early.
